For founders, the pressure to perform is relentless.
They are expected to lead the vision, build the company, make difficult decisions, support their teams, satisfy investors, and keep moving forward—often while carrying the weight of the business alone.
Yet while companies increasingly invest in strategy, technology, sales, and growth, one of the most important factors behind sustained success is often overlooked: the mental health and mental performance of the person leading it.
Vin Infante, Mental Performance Coach and founder of VI Coaching, is working to change that.
Through a hybrid model that blends coaching, mentorship, and therapeutic-informed interventions, Infante helps founders, entrepreneurs, and organizational leaders build the internal tools required to lead, grow, and perform without sacrificing their well-being in the process.
“Founders and CEOs are expected to change the world and provide for everyone around them,” Infante says. “But too often, there is nobody truly taking care of them.”
The Hidden Cost of Leadership
For many leaders, asking for help can feel uncomfortable.
They may believe they should handle the pressure on their own. They may worry that support makes them look weak, incapable, or less credible to their team. But Infante believes that mindset is one of the biggest reasons founders become stuck.
“Leaders consistently overestimate what they can carry alone,” he says. “They underestimate how much their mental health affects their ability to lead, make decisions, build relationships, and grow a company.”
The result can be burnout, anxiety, isolation, strained relationships, and a declining ability to perform under pressure.
This problem is becoming even more important as artificial intelligence changes the pace of business. AI can help companies move faster and do more with less, but it can also raise expectations for founders to deliver more quickly, innovate constantly, and stay available at all hours.
“In many ways, AI is increasing capability,” says Infante. “But it is also increasing the pressure. Founders are now expected to produce better results, faster than ever before.”
Bridging Mental Health and Mental Performance
Infante’s work is built around the idea that mental health and high performance cannot be separated.
A founder may have the ambition, intelligence, and work ethic to build a successful company. But if they are operating from constant stress, fear, anxiety, or exhaustion, their decision-making and leadership will eventually be affected.
VI Coaching uses a three-step process: awareness, education, and action.
The first stage helps clients build awareness around the patterns affecting their personal and professional lives. This may include how they respond to stress, how they lead under pressure, where they become reactive, and what may be holding them back.
The second stage is education. Clients learn about the gaps they need to address in order to grow, including the relationship between their mindset, nervous system, emotional state, and performance.
The final stage is action. Rather than leaving the work at insight alone, Infante challenges clients to apply what they have learned through targeted, practical changes.
“Many people become aware of what is wrong but do not know what to do with that awareness,” Infante explains. “Others receive information but never translate it into action. Real transformation happens when awareness, education, and action come together.”
The methodology is not designed as a one-size-fits-all program. Every founder has different pressures, experiences, business demands, and goals. Infante’s work is tailored to the individual, helping them identify the support and strategies most relevant to their circumstances.
From Panic and Stress to Growth
One client came to Infante while running a successful business, but privately struggling with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks that had persisted for more than a decade.
Despite his professional success, the client found it difficult to grow while constantly managing the mental and emotional toll of the pressure he was under. Stress would trigger panic, panic would disrupt his ability to perform, and the cycle would often lead back into periods of depression.
Over about a year, Infante worked with the client through targeted interventions, neuroscience education, and practical tools to help him manage his internal state more effectively.
As the client developed a deeper understanding of his triggers and learned how to respond differently, he began to regain control over the panic and stress that had been limiting both his life and business.
The shift created new momentum. With greater clarity and stability, the client could focus more fully on the company and pursue growth more intentionally.
For Infante, that outcome reflects the real opportunity for founders: not simply to endure the pressure of leadership, but to develop the capacity to lead through it.
A New Standard for Founders
Elite athletes do not reach the highest level alone. They have coaches, trainers, specialists, and support systems designed to help them perform at their best.
Infante believes founders deserve the same level of support.
“Having a coach or a support system does not mean you are weak,” he says. “It means you are committed to becoming the strongest version of yourself—for your business, your team, your family, and your future.”
As business moves faster, the leaders who perform best will not necessarily be the ones who can carry the most pressure alone. They will be the ones who understand how to protect their mental health, strengthen their mindset, and build a sustainable foundation for performance.
For Vin Infante, that is the future of executive coaching: helping founders scale their companies without losing themselves along the way.
